There’s no shortage of great steakhouses throughout the Four Corners. But how many of them offer steaks that swing?
Instead of cooking their cuts on the grill, the folks at Mexican Hat Lodge insist that swinging the meatback and forth over the grill makes for a more flavorful steak by keeping the juices locked in. None of the meat is seasoned, but it does have a nice hit of flavor from the juniper that’s burned to fire the grill.
The novelty of swinging steaks at Mexican Hat Lodge got us there, but the food was good enough to keep us coming back.
If you go: Mexican Hat is 22 miles north of Monument Valley, and the lodge offers itssignature meal March through October. It’s a casual, cookout type of vibe—you’ll be most comfortable in jeans. Bonus points if you jump up on stage and join the family band.
